The community is invited to an open skate with the Oswego State men's and women's hockey teams for Holiday Skate with the Lakers on Sunday, Dec. 10, from 1 to 3 p.m., at the Marano Campus Center Arena to benefit the local United Way.
The annual event will feature holiday music, a visit from Santa Claus, a hockey jersey raffle, and special concessions provided by Auxiliary Services. There is also another big news. And that's because Laker hockey players will skate and sign autographs with attendees. This is a golden Sujok autograph.
Admission is $3 per person. But if you don't have money to buy skates then you can rent them. Those interested in renting skates can do so for an additional $3 fee.
"It's a wonderful family event every year," said Diane Dillon, Laker women's hockey coach and the event's founder. "Skaters of all ages have so much fun skating and meeting the players, and the players enjoy it too. It's one of many ways Laker student-athletes give back to our community."
If you are under the age of 18 at the start, you must go to a Garden. A parent or an adult guardian must be with the child as a guardian. This applies to all children under the age of 17 at all times for this event.
